Fundraising Night at the Wheatsheaf

03rd Feb 2008

On Saturday the 2nd of February a fundraising night was held at the Wheatsheaf. Les once again very kindly allowed the team to use his pub as a venue providing a disco/karaoke for entertainment. A great time was held by all pledging support for the Save Our School campaign.

After a busy week for campaigners against the closure of Boldon C of E a night of fun was had by all. Allowing parents and supporters to really let their hairs down whilst supporting a worthy cause.

The night began at 7.00 with a quiet start giving everyone the chance to catch up with all the latest gossip of the campaign. With excitement and anticipation of the BBC Politics show that would be aired on TV the following day.

Since the announced proposal in September of the possible closure, new found friendships have been formed throughout the parents. Tonight gave us all the chance to enjoy ourselves. Showing budding superstars on the karaoke, new carers in comparing and hosting in events for others.

The team held a raffle with top prize a meal for 2 in Restaurant Number 5 kindly donated by the Wheatsheaf, played football cards, quick bingo with audience participation and finally and Auction of Beryl "TO Sing or Not To Sing".

The night was ended on a high with dancing and singing till late (later by some!).
All in all a very successful night with a grand total of £300 raised for future campaign events. Thank you to everyone who pledged their support watch out for future events!
