Help Protect Burnham's School Site

Buckinghamshire Council has published its draft local llan, which is open for public consultation from 23rd July until 6th September 2026.

A key proposal within the plan is the allocation of the former Burnham Upper School site for 125 new homes.

For the Save Our School campaign, this is a significant concern. If the proposal is approved, the opportunity to re-establish a non-selective secondary school on the site could be lost.

This proposal also differs from the recently adopted Burnham Neighbourhood Plan, which identifies the former school site as an important community asset and supports safeguarding it for future educational use should the need arise.

The site is much more than a former school. It also includes valuable community facilities, including a sports hall and extensive playing fields, which many residents believe should once again benefit the local community.

Make your voice heard

The Draft Local Plan is currently open for consultation, giving residents an opportunity to share their views.

If you support retaining the former school site for future educational and community use, we encourage you to express your disapproval by emailing:

Writing in your own words is always the most effective approach, but you may wish to include points such as:

  • The former school site is an important community asset.

  • Burnham continues to need a non-selective secondary school.

  • The sports hall and playing fields should remain available for community benefit.

  • Once the site is developed for housing, the opportunity for future educational use may be lost.

You may also wish to contact your local Buckinghamshire councillors and Member of Parliament to express your views.

The consultation closes on 6th September

This is one of the most important opportunities the Burnham community has had to influence the future of the former school site.

If you care about protecting the possibility of a future non-selective secondary school in Burnham, now is the time to make your voice heard.
